The Distance Learning Center for Addiction Studies (DLCAS.com) is an internet based educational service that allows participants the opportunity of obtaining educational credits toward state and/or national licensure or certification (either initial, basic education credits for licensure or certification or continuing education credits for relicensure or recertification). Founded in 1997 by Kevin Scheel and Vic Shaw, DLCAS.com currently has both the largest and most diverse number of addiction course offerings available for distance learning. By way of distance education, a counselor or counselor-in-training can obtain part or all of their required credits in the convenience of their our own home, at their own pace, and within their own time frame. Using distance education saves considerable amounts of both time and money.
Distance learning is a guided set of educational activities that provides high quality content linked to current research and/or other related, widely accepted academic work, along with access to the instructor or training provider. The majority of state certifying or licensing bodies currently allow students to obtain some portion of their education credits toward original or continued licensure or certification by way of distance learning. (To assist you, we have provided a webpage that identifies all of the state and national bodies who accept our training - click the following link to visit this site for more information: Approval Page)
What separates our distance learning from previously used self-guided study (or home study) is the use of Internet technology that allows the participant immediate access to coursework and our instructional staff, immediate test results, and the ability to obtain a certificate of completion immediately upon passing the course test. And while our coursework is both self-guided and self-paced, students always have support through the use of emails and our FAQ page (go to FAQ page). These differences allow the training activity to be more like an in-class training, without the added expense of travel, hotels, meals, and most importantly, time away from home or work.
DLCAS.com is approved as a training provider by the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors, Provider # 0229. We are also approved by many of the major certification/licensure bodies including:
Each individual course we offer will include a clear, concise description of the course content and objectives. Identification of the core tasks, knowledge, and skills with which the course deals will also be provided. Because of the unique nature of distance learning, there is no refund available for "non-attendance." It will be the responsibility of each participant to complete and return required materials (post test and evaluation) in a timely manner. Such guidelines and expectations will be spelled out in the introductory section of each training.
All of the instructors/authors who present coursework with DLCAS.com are noted writers and trainers with many years of experience in the chemical dependency field, who are credentialed in their respective fields. All have Masters degrees or higher. They are able to provide you with the highest quality of fresh and timely information available today. Many courses we offer are based on published works by our instructors, or on new information that they are actively presenting across the country and across the world today. All courses are reviewed annually and updated to insure that the information presented is the best, most up-to-date information available. For more information about our instructors/authors, visit our facility page using the following link: Faculty Information
All coursework comes with a 100% money back guarantee. If for any reason you are not satisfied with the quality of the course materials you receive, we will gladly refund all of your fee provided you have not tested and received your course certificate of completion.
